The World’s Largest Repository of Free Online Learning Tutorials

The World’s Largest Repository of Free Online Learning Tutorials | 21st Century Tools for Teaching-People and Learners | Scoop.it

Here’s a common scenario. Someone emails and asks about an elearning tutorial I have on the blog. It’s not always easy to find the specific tutorial buried in a given post. In fact, there are many times I either forgot that I had created that tutorial or I can’t recall where it’s at either. I know. It’s part of getting older.

Today I am going to fix that. I have listed every blog post that has a video tutorial that shows how to create something related to online learning. So, if you’re just getting started with building online learning courses (or new to the blog), now you have a handy resource with links to all sorts of rapid elearning tutorials.

Self-Directed Learning Well Explained and 27 Actions

Self-Directed Learning Well Explained and 27 Actions | 21st Century Tools for Teaching-People and Learners | Scoop.it

TeachThought.com has a series of posts about self-directed learning by Terry Heick and the staff, well worth a read! “

“Learning is most effective when it’s personalised; it means something to the learner. That happens when people feel they are participants and investors in their own learning, shaping what and how they learn, and able to articulate its value to them.” — Leadbeater, Charles

Definitely well worth a read

Avery's curator insight, March 25, 2013 11:56 PM

My Thoughts:

You can't teach someone how to learn. You can give them helpful tips and advice, but a single structure for education is not going to work for everyone. It's so much harder for people to learn their true potential, to reach their goals, when they're only shown a single path to them. You show them the path through the forest, but what if there's a rock face nearby that also leads up to where they want to go, and what if they happen to be a fantastic rock climber? It just makes more sense to show someone a map if you can, instead of directing them towards only one path.

Instant Project Visibility | LeanKit

Instant Project Visibility | LeanKit | 21st Century Tools for Teaching-People and Learners | Scoop.it
LeanKit is a simple, visual project and process management tool that allows organizations to easily visualize and manage the flow of their work, while collaborating with team members to consistently deliver results.

Online, Visual Project Boards

In LeanKit, you map your organization’s processes onto virtual whiteboards. On each board the process steps are represented as vertical and horizontal lanes. Cards represent work items, which team members update and move from across the board as they complete their share of the work.

Rather than having to ask for status reports, managers and customers can just look at the board. Board updates are visible in seconds around the globe and e-mail alerts and RSS feeds are available, so you and your team can take immediate action to resolve issues before they turn into serious problems.

Teaching kids to program using Scratch and the Kinect - Stephen Howell | 21st Century Tools for Teaching-People and Learners | Scoop.it

Kia Sowden's comment, May 11, 2013 1:02 AM
After my experiences with Scratch it is definitely a resource that you could use with students. I did find parts of it challenging, however this is because it is completely new to me. If students were introduced to programming at an early stage it would not appear so daunting to them.
Katrina Elliott's comment, May 13, 2013 6:15 AM
I found that it would be a suitable design resource for high school students. I found it challenging, however very engaging and addictive. I am unsure how this would benefit all students, as it was difficult in some areas to program and get perfect. Personally, I wouldn't use this program within my classroom.
Amanda Rogers's comment, May 14, 2013 5:00 AM
I agree Katrina, this progam would be too hard for most primary school students to grasp
